Chapter.1 Pilot

It was a regular day, July 26th 2014, Snivy wakes up from bed and hits his snooze button on the alarm clock dozens of times. He always has that feeling that he has to get up and go to work today. He was already depressed over the last incident where the engines failed during landing and he almost ran off the runway but Snivy was so focused on getting his passengers safe that nothing stood in his way but that is another story to tell later. Snivy rolls out of bed, pulls his laptop from his nightstand, and turns it on. He enters his password and checks his Skype first for any updates or any new messages. After his regular routine he hops out of bed and into the bathroom to shower. Five minutes later he is out and well ready for work and nothing will stop him except breakfast on the go. He loves going to Burger King to grab a dollar whopper every day since that was all he had in his area and they were always serving burgers for breakfast so why not?

He turns the radio to 107.9 and chills to soft rock while he wakes up all the way so by the time he got to the next stop light towards Raleigh he would be wide awake. Suddenly he gets a phone call, it’s from his friend Snow who has been real anxious for being a co-pilot for the first time and recently he just graduated aviation and flight school. This was the first time he would get to fly a huge plane with his friend. Snivy just stopped for a second and said calm words,

“Dude relax, I promise you there is nothing to worry about. I’ve flown thousands of trips to the same destination in my Boeing triple seven. It’s a reliable plane and it is super safe. What’s there to worry about?” Snivy said.

Snow was silent for a few seconds and the first thing that came out of his mouth was “Crashing?!” Snivy chuckled and elaborated that planes are better than they were in the 1960’s or higher. Snow wanted to fly for years and now that he gets the opportunity he is getting anxiety. Snivy had to stop and think for a second then he said this.

“Ok, I will fly the half part of this flight while you take over the 35,000 length. When we start to descend into Michigan then I will take over controls.”

After the conversation they both hung up and Snivy continued on driving towards the airport. Snivy turned the radio station to 107.9 because he wanted to wind down on some music instead of all the rap he had on his phone. He almost had an accident a few seconds ago while he was changing lanes proving just how watchful Snivy is.

“Hey! Watch it!” Snivy shouted while switching back lanes.

Nobody responded and just continued driving. Snivy is always bugging on the way people drive and the reason why is because back in 2009 in his 2014 Dodge Journey, he went to switch lanes on a highway while going 65 miles per hour. He went over and a vehicle behind him going twenty over the limit had to slam his breaks and got rear ended by an 18 wheeler. At least two people died that day and everyone knows the exact car, license plate, and Snivy’s face look like. Snivy gets absolutely no respect from anyone and wonders to himself

“Why do I even bother trying to be nice to others when knowing people are complete assholes to me?”

Five minutes later from almost being in another accident, Snivy receives another phone call but it was not from Snow, instead it was from Scyzon, a new friend Snivy made recently. She was excited that she was going to fly to Michigan for free and experience the mighty things that state has to offer.
Snivy did not really enjoy North Carolina so he was glad he was going to fly away from there for a while.

“Hello Scyzon, hope you are excited about today.”

Snivy was excited about himself because of course he gets to mentor his friend as his captain and show him the beautiful skies he was dying to show Snow.

“Of course I am! Of course I am a bit nervous about flying but I think it will be interesting!” Scyzon said happy over the phone.

Snivy continued to talk for about a few minutes then had to hang up so he could check and see who else was coming. He marked down Scyzon and then he had to check for Kuro, Note, and Zipper. Kuro, who is already nervous, has never ridden on a plane before and probably would freak if Snivy were to fly over 5,000 feet. Note, who was experience in the art institute, was looking forward to flying but was very concerned on Snivy’s new Boeing triple seven.
His plane is fairly new which were delivered about three months ago but was already checked and ready to go after the last incident and Note heard about it so he was a bit iffy on the thing but still gave it a clear mind check. Zipper, who is a former FBI agent, enjoyed the free flight Snivy was giving to him for his services and was willing to kick back and relax. It was already early in the morning and the plane don’t depart for another several hours so he was going to wait for a little bit till he called to make sure they were coming. Snivy passed his friend Dmitri’s house meaning that he was 10 minutes away from the airport and since the car was there he knew that Dmitri had not left yet. Snivy thought to himself

“He needs to get up and leave soon but whatever, he is naturally slow haha.
But we do have to get ready soon and he is the Flight Analyst.”

For his plane, Snivy has the following customized crew for his plane, Flight Engineer, Flight Analyst, two main flight attendants, and his co-captain. He has the best crew the company has to offer and Snivy only wanted to fly the best airline they had where he is around “United Airlines” Snivy ran his mouth for so long rambling about his crew, he arrives at the airport without realizing how much time he had left.

“I thought I had another eight minutes to go or something? Oh well I guess when I am this awesome I always burn off time”

Snivy got out of his car after parking and went to the front gates. He clocked in 8:03AM and wanted to get himself ready for his two and a half hour trip back and forth but the first one was his special one so he wanted to make it a very nice trip. Usually for small trips they would have small planes but Snivy prefers wide body jets that carry more people and more fuel to get the job done faster and kill time. The plane was going to take off at 9:00AM and was going to make six trips and he would finish around 12:00AM. He always hears the announcements for last flights and delays over the intercom every twenty minutes but always enjoys the sound because he loves his job just the way it is. He threw on his white outfit on with his flight badge, his hat, and his flight gear. He was ready to go which only took like five minutes to put on. He walked past the gates which some has one of the followings, scanning for any sharp objects or anything restricted, if he had the correct beverages, the usual stuff for granted permission to be on a plane. If he had to, he wanted to get to the plane early so he could register his flight for Air Traffic Controllers documents and plan his route so he could be authorized to launch into the sky. It is a normal procedure all pilots have to go through but if you do not file a paperwork out, then a plane can’t get off the ground. He had about fifteen minutes left till he would had to leave so he rushed his way to the terminals. Before he stepped a foot inside, he ran into his two friends “Zipper” and “Kuro.” Snivy asked Kuro how he got here and did he know the airport but he said that Zipper gave him a ride.

“You must had your sirens on or something huh zipper?” Snivy said.

Zipper chuckled and rolled his eyes. “Remember Snivy, I am a former so I don’t have my vehicle anymore but I did speed on the highway of course,” Zipper said.

“Yeah, and I almost died in the vehicle. He did flipping 110 on the highway I spent more time holding my seat instead of enjoying the speed because he cut off cars left and right,” Kuro said.

While Snivy laughed at the two, he left the area after saying goodbye to his friends and proceeded to the terminal.

Snivy walked past the gate and did the usual checkup for any sharp objects or anything hazardous that could affect the flight to and from the same destinations repeatedly. After he was checked out, he took a sneak peek at his card to where he was going.

“North Caroline to Michigan. Wow. This will be my first flight with my buddy!” Snivy said emotionally.

“Hey! Snivy!”

A voice from the distance started coming from the far right side. Snivy heard it, but did not know who it was until he turned his head to the right. It was Snow, his younger colleague. Snivy ran to him and gave him some stuff pertaining to the flight such as his suit and a pack of gum. Snow stood there confused on why there was a pack of gum in the first place.

“I chew this all the time when I fly. It helps me keep my nerves just in case if I fly into anything crazy like radio interference,” Snivy said.

“What do you mean? If we are going to be in the atmosphere, then we should not have anything to worry about, right?” Snow said.

They both stood motionless, but Snivy eventually shook his head, patted his back, and walked him to the gates. The terminal was right in front of their faces and Snivy was proud and happy, but Snow dead stopped in the terminal feeling his heart skip beats repeatedly. He feels that since this is his first time he may screw up. Snivy stopped himself and turned around seeing Snow with no energy to even pick up his arm.

“Are you ok? I was nervous when I first flew my plane. You know what, I was nervous to even be in a plane,” Snivy said with a smile on his face.

“Don’t worry about it,” Snow said shaking his head while walking past Snivy.

They both walked up to the door and Snivy’s two staff crew standing at the entrance opened the door in front of them. Eulogy, who was a flight engineer, was checking all the mechanics on the plane since the Boeing-777 is still new and is still trying to recover from the last incident it had and Dmitri, the flight analyst, was standing there with a checklist and the headsets providing to both Snivy and Snow. Snivy smiled at both Eulogy and Dmitri, greeted them both with a “thank you,” and walked inside the cockpit. He sat down, but noticed Snow was not in his seat. He decided to wait a minute or two before he would start the procedure of his checklist. He made sure the hand break was on and decided to turn on the plane. He went over the beginning checklist, but could not move on to the next one because he needed his co-pilot with him.

“Eulogy, can you watch the plane please? I have to look for Snow,” Snivy said concerned.

“Absolutely, I did see Snow go in the back of the plane so check there dude,” Eulogy said acting all psyched.

Snivy got up and switched places with Eulogy, then headed towards the back of the plane. He pulled the curtains and dead stopped after noticing the dent in the first class walls. After he looked at it, he started getting visions about the last incident he had with the plane. He remembered a passenger in that exact spot and questioned himself,

“Who was dead with blood all over the carpet and the wall?”

A distance rail on the runway that he ran over during his crash punctured the passengers head. Snivy shook the image out of his head and proceeded to his destination. He checked and did not see Snow anywhere on the plane. After he turned around, he noticed another dent right near the back door. This one was very faint and hard to see, but was shocking to still be seen in Snivy’s eyes.

“Am I … getting some sort of scary vision because the last time I checked, the plane was given the clean bill of health … yet, I still see all these bumps and dents lying all over the plane. It’s sad that my plane went through all this,” Snivy remotely said.

“What do you mean?” Snow said coming out of the bathroom.

“I was looking for you! Damn you! You actually scared me. Oh well, at least you are here,” Snivy said paranoid.

Snivy looked at his plane schedule and realized that he needed to leave in about fifteen minutes. There was no time to waste. Snivy grabbed Snow’s arm and ran to the cockpit to start the normal procedure. Back at the terminal where everyone was starting to load up, Poison, who was calling people up, started calling classes and started with first class.

“Ok everyone, First class A and B step up into the 777 miracle. United Airlines appreciates your cooperation!”

A passenger walked up to Poison with a curious look on his face. His name was Archie. He was a senior in college with a very high GPA and is an attorney.

“Hey, umm this says seat A33 but this number isn’t first class. I called last week to address this, but I could not reach anybody,” Archie said.

“That’s ok. The machine is always printing crap. I tend to punch the darn thing,” Poison said.

He let everyone else go through and started calling a bunch of roles. The plane was filling up with people every second of every minute. It was obvious to everyone, it was going to be a busy day. Poison called the rest of the groups “D” “E” “F”. After letter F, Zipper and Kuro started to head down to the gate. Kuro however, was clenching to his seat without budging an inch.

“You are not eating fear are you?” Zipper said confused.

“Nah, you know me! I am not afraid of everything. Heh heh,” Kuro said fretfully.

Poison called the rest of the groups and was proceeding to close the gates until one more passenger showed up.

“Sorry I am late. My name is Clyde and I’m supposed to be on this trip!” Clyde said sweating and gasping for air.

Poison did not argue and proceeded to open the gate for him. Poison and Clyde walked together heading to the plane. Back in the cockpit, things were already preparing to go smoothly. Snivy handled the machines while Snow called out the instruments and the checklist to him. It is a normal procedure for pilots. It is a series of steps before you can get a plane off the ground. Snow finished the first checklist for turning on the plane, which was the “Pre-flight checklist” and proceeded to the next one. Today, there is a total of 360 passengers and 6 crewmembers on today’s flight. They will be flying from Raleigh to Detroit on a simple flight. Poison and his colleague went over the emergency procedure for all the passengers in case the captain would have to ditch his plane.

“Well, we are about to be on roll Snow. Do you want to fly this?” Snivy said.

“Umm, no thanks, you can do this,” Snow said very nervous.

Snivy said OK and made the announcement to his staff.

“Staff crew, final crosscheck,” Snivy said over board. “Ok everyone this is your captain, Snivy. Just a few minutes ago, we were informed about a small weather pattern halfway towards out destination so there will be a small delay on landing. I think our awesome staff warned you about everything. Please remain in your seats until we reach into the air and for any reason, smoking is prohibited in the laboratories or anywhere on the plane. We will be taking off in about a few minutes. Thank you for your cooperation. Once again, thank you for flying with American Airlines.”

Zipper leaned over to Kuro asking if everything was still all right, but Kuro just said nothing. Zipper turned back around and saw a familiar face a few rows ahead of him. It was his former friend, “Debbie.” He was not expecting her on today’s flight nor was he expecting her at all.

“I’m guessing you know her”

“Yeah I do” Zipper said turning around. “Who are you? You must be friendly. My name is Zipper!”

“My name is Note. I don’t talk much sorry,” Note said very quickly with his words.

Zipper shook his head and just relaxed. He looked at Kuro for a second and just stared directly at him worried because he had never seen him like this before. He wonders what has gotten into him. Back at the front of the plane, Snivy was lining up with the runway and told Snow to handle the engines with him. There is nobody left out when it comes to Snivy’s plane. Everyone has a job they are assigned and is always done in groups.

“Ok Snow, we’re on the roll,” Snivy said.

The only sounds anyone can hear are the two powerful engines that the plane is making. The speed is increasing, but the pilots call out knot speeds rather than regular car speeds. The plane roars with sounds and the wind slaps the plane giving it the thrust it needs. The plane starts rocking back and forth and continues until a decent amount of speed has been approached.

“100 Knots,” Snow said.

The plane continues to roar with power, but the plane starts to settle while still driving down the runway.

“V1,” Snivy Said.

V1 is the call sign for where pilots cannot abandon their takeoff. It could end disastrous if they try to steer away once V1 is already called out. Snivy and Snow can no longer move from their seats as the G-force is pushing them into the seats they are sitting in. Snow’s ears pop from the force and Snivy’s grip on the control gears become tighter.

“Rotate,” Snivy said.

The plane now begins to lift from the ground very slowly, and begins a slow climb. All the wheels have left the ground, but must reach a certain height before bringing the landing gear up. After reaching over 1200 Feet, Snivy tells Snow “Gear up” since they are no longer needed. Snow just sits doing nothing but watching the nose of the plane climb like a roller coaster.

“I guess I will do it then,” Snivy said bringing the landing gear up.

Everyone in the cabin was amazed over the scenery outside the plane while it was climbing, except Kuro, who was sitting down with his eyes closed. Zipper made stupid noises near Kuro so that he could open his eyes to what he is missing.

“Dammit! Quit it!” Kuro said yapping his eyes wide open.

He cocked his head to the right and he barely saw any ground outside. Kuro was paralyzed with the view.

“See? I told ya! Everything is just fine!” Zipper said.

Clyde was sitting next to Zipper and decided to say something after remaining quiet for a long period, but then he noticed a weird look on a passenger. He tapped his shoulder and began to speak, but he did not reply. All he was doing was snickering about something. Clyde scratched his ear and immediately said that something does not feel right.
