Content: I’m writing a story that has received excellent feedback so far, and even the suggestion that I should publish it to Amazon Kindle for digital download.

My question is, if there was a story that you loved and you could read it here for free, would there be any reason you would pay $0.99 for it on Kindle?

The reason to answer “no” is obvious, but some benefits to buying it might include:

being able to read it without being online
being able to read it without being on this site (in case privacy is a concern)
Being able to read it in the future, even if it gets taken down from this site
Being able to have your E-Reader, read it to you without the interruption of the comments
Of course, you could accomplish almost all of those simply by copying and pasting into a word document. So let me know what you think!

BTW, here’s the story for those interested:

I probably would, but just to give you a tip

So maybe having a Patreon or even a cash app link for tips would be more appropriate.

So I've been publishing my tales for the past year or so, and leaving them up free elsewhere. I'm not getting rich off of them, but it has become a nice little side padding that's helped with inflation this year. One thing to keep in mind though with seeing you listing .99 for your story, is that the percentage you get on that level is horrible. If you can't set something for 2.99 it's not worth it in my opinion. (Amazon has a 40% or 80% cut depending on pricing, and they'll only give you 40% on the <2.99)

If you're willing to take things down (which I'm personally avoiding) you can do Kindle Unlimited which might be better for you in terms of revenue. The problem is you cannot leave it posted anywhere else to be found for free. I did it for my Undercover Tour and Diamond Tours as a two-pack and an experiment. It wasn't worth it to me, even with getting the additional support of promotions I could run.

Your mileage of course may vary, good luck!

That’s very helpful! I’m an aspiring author and this is really the first piece of substantial writing I’ve done. Since we are such a small community and it would have such a narrow appeal I may just use this as training grounds before I eventually publish some thing with broader appeal

I've downloaded some diaper stories from Amazon but I haven't had to pay for them because they're covered by Amazon Prime. I think that there are many people who might see and buy your stories who aren't members on ADISC so you might still have a paying audience. Let's face it: diaper stories aren't great literature and I've written a number of them for this site. I'm still waiting to hear from the Pulitzer foundation but so far, nadda. What disappoints me with diaper stories is that most authors never really continue them to logical conclusions. It's like they start, peak your interest and then just end the story as if they've lost interest. Character development is minimal at best and there's often very little conflict and resolution. There's a craft to writing a good story and most diaper stories don't meet the minimal mechanics of story writing.

I agree. That lack of quality is actually why I decided to start writing.
