This will have AB/DL theming, though this won't be 'shoved in your face'. It's also completely SFW/not gross or creepy or over the top.
All characters in this story are over the age of 18.
I'm going to try my absolute hardest to include interesting twists and surprises. Results may vary. This is an experiment for me, I've only ever written RP stories, usually involving video games characters/backstory. I really want to get into more writing and I'm passionate about it. Feedback is absolutely encouraged!
This is going to be viewed through the POV of Laura, as if she's being filmed by an invisible camera following her. We'll be able to hear her thoughts and anything she says 'out loud'. Her text colour is blue.
When Laura is reading a note, piece of paper, calendar, anything at all - from any other member of the Miller family, it will be in red.
This is going to be 'episodic', I'll try and remain as consistent as I can with upcoming parts.
Throughout the story and as Laura explores her family home, we're going to be hearing Tommy's journal. Think of this as being narrated by him to Laura. It's his thoughts, his life over the last 2 years since Laura has been on vacation. When Laura explores a new area or notices something specific/interesting, a journal entry will 'play'. Think of it as Laura hearing the journal in her head. I want this to be immersive.

This is the story of 23 year old Laura Miller who returns home after a lengthy two-year long world trip (vacation), she's been away for 2 years. The story (and house she returns to) is set in semi-rural Washington State (NA), specifically Tacoma. The story takes place in 1995. When Laura returns to the new family home (the family moved in whilst Laura was on vacation), her family are nowhere to be seen. The last contact Laura had with her mum, Susan, was the night before Laura's flight - to let her know she's on her way home finally. The Miller family is: Laura (23) (protagonist, who we will be following throughout this story), her younger brother Tommy (just turned 18), mum Susan (47) and dad George (49). The story starts with Laura being dropped off by taxi outside her new home (the family moved in whilst she was on vacation, approx. 1.8 years ago), it's been roughly 20 hours since she rang her mum, Susan, to let her know she was about to board her flight home and that she'll see them all soon.

October, 1995
The rain was coming down heavy and there was a mild chill in the air. Laura waved the taxi driver off and dragged her massive suitcase onto the driveway. "Well, home sweet home Laura. Haven't missed this rain. Or the cold. Oh to be back in Italy. Or Spain. Or anywhere else" Laura sighed. This was the first time she'd seen the new family home, prior to this it'd only been described to her by texts from mom. The house was large and typically rural, it had a certain 'feel' to it - Laura couldn't quite make out what that feeling was. Maybe it was just because it was new for her. Getting more and more soaked in the heavy rain, Laura struggled with her heavy suitcase up the driveway to the front door. Laura didn't find it particularly odd that no one came outside to greet her, it was late at night (02:15AM) and assumed everyone was in bed. She didn't happen to notice there were no cars on the driveway, probably because she was tired and jetlagged.

Laura made it up the stairs to the porch and front door and suddenly panicked. 'I haven't got any keys to the new place! Crap. I'm gonna have to knock and wake someone up' she thought. Laura noticed, however, there was a folded note stuck to the front door with tape. The note had 'LAURA - READ ME' written in large text. "Laura, I'm so so sorry I couldn't be there when you got home. It's not possible, with everything that's gone on. PLEASE, I am begging you, don't go digging around trying to find out where I've gone. I don't want mom and dad to know. I don't want them knowing anything about me ever again. I love you big sis, you've always been there for me. I promise that you'll see me again, someday. Please don't be worried" the note was from Tommy, Laura's younger brother and was dated with today's date (October 5th). 'Please don't be worried' Laura thought to herself. "Oh Tom, what's happened buddy" Laura couldn't help but feel as if something awful had happened and she was growing concerned. 'Why would Tommy write this note?' 'What's happened?' 'How long has this note been out here, why haven't mum or dad called me?' thoughts were rushing through Laura's head.

Stuck to the back of the note was a key to the front door. Laura used the key and opened the heavy wooden door, revealing the large and airy hallway. Some lights were on, some weren't. The house felt pretty cold too. Laura looked back at the drive and finally noticed that there were no cars on the driveway, it was clear no one was home and this only added to Laura's worry. Laura turned the main light and hefted her suitcase inside, she stood there in the large hallway.

[Journal entry plays, Tommy, December 1993 - approx. 2 months since Laura departed for Europe]
["Dear Laura, so much has changed since you've been away. We've moved into this new house in a new county, I'm at a new high school. This hasn't been easy with my big sister gone for a planned two years! None of this seems real, honestly. I'm gonna be positive though. I used to tell you everything Laura and, if I can't do it in person because you're off gallivanting around Europe or wherever, I'll tell it to this journal. It'll be as if I was talking to you."]

Laura noticed there was a home phone on the side table, just by the stairs going to the upper level. It was flashing, as if there was messages on it. Before going over to the phone, Laura opened a closet door. There some coats, jumpers, hoodies and stuff. There were also some of Laura's belongings still in boxes with LAURA'S ROOM written in back marker pen. 'Jeez guys, could have at least put the boxes in my new room. Wherever my room actually is' Laura closed the closet door and made her way over to the home phone that was flashing. There was a note by the phone "Tommy, Sarah from the old neighbourhood called. She wants to come see you and the new place. Call her back please, - mom" underneath mom's note was a reply from Tommy. "Mom, Sarah is sooo overbearing. She always wants to see me! When doesn't she? She's a weirdo. The only reason we ever hung out when we were younger is because she had a Nintendo!"
Laura smiled reading this, she remembered Tommy always complaining to her about Sarah when they had their chats.

Laura snapped her attention to the flashing phone and pressed play. There were 3 messages. The 1st message was from Sarah, Tommy's old friend from the old neighbourhood. "Tommy? Tommmmy. Hellooo? Anyone there? TOMMY!" the 2nd message was a voice that Laura didn't recognize. It was a male voice, though not particularly deep. The voice was pained and sad, as if they were crying down the phone. "Tommy? Tommy where are you? I really need to speak to you. Please pick up", the third message was just Laura informing her parents that she's boarding her flight home. That second message was a mystery to Laura. Who was it? And why were they so upset? Laura could barely understand what they were saying they were crying so much. It was disconcerting.

[Journal entry plays, Tommy, December 1993]
["My god, Laura you're so damn lucky you finished high school before we moved into this house, this county. Sooo, it's the first day of school and there I am, introducing myself to the class. I say that I've just moved into the house up on Pine Hill. Suddenly, the WHOLE class stares at me as if I'd transformed into a damn ghost or something! I was praying for a rewind button or the ground to swallow me up. So now, everyone knows my name and that we live in an apparently haunted house. Mom's uncle left her the house in his will and apparently he was a bit.... eccentric? Crazy? I'm not really sure. The kids in class call it the 'psycho house', yet no one's ever really told me what that means. So now I'm Tommy, the psycho house boy. Isn't that just great? Ugh. I can't wait to finish high school as soon as I'm 18. Not long to go, I guess."]

Laura called out in the house, on the 'off-chance' someone may be in the house, though she doubted it. "Hello? Mom? Dad? Tommy? ANYONE?" sure enough, there was no answer. Where was everyone? What had happened to Tommy? Laura's worry continued to grow. Laura continued to explore, this time she went through the door that was next to the phone, the door lead to another, smaller, hallway. In the next hallway there was a drawer unit and Laura opened it up out of curiosity, looking for clues or just something to explain what the hell had happened. There wasn't much of interest, although there was a polaroid photograph. In the photograph was Tommy standing next to some guy. The stranger looked the same age as Tommy, he had hazel eyes and messy blonde hair which matched Tommy's own messy hair, though Tommy appeared to have dyed his hair white/blonde and had a fringe now. He looked so different since Laura last saw him. They both looked so happy in the picture, the stranger's arm was wrapped around Tommy's upper back as if he was comforting him. They were both smiling with big grins. Laura did assume it was a classmate/new BFF. There was a safety pin pierced through the top of the picture, Laura thought nothing of it though.

[Journal entry plays, Tommy, June]
["You know that feeling where the first moment you see someone new, having never met them before, they've just got this bright starry aura about them? And you just HAVE to get to know them? Well, there's this guy in my class. He's a senior, same as me. He turned 18 a couple days before I did. He's usually dressed, kind of strangely? I guess? He wears baggy joggers and a large hoodie with a cartoon print on it. His hair is awesome too. Even his sneakers are cartoony. He's got this vintage backpack with badges pinned to it, safety clips and stuff. He's always drawing stuff in his notebook, looking so intense and kind of.... thoughtful? Not sure. It's hard to explain. I had no idea how I would ever, like, have an excuse to speak to him? Until I overheard that he and his friends like to play Street Fighter 2 in the arcade shop, the one in town. They play every day."]

Laura put the photograph back in the drawer and continued down the corridor. The next room was clearly a study and she decided to investigate. 'This place is HUGE. Mom's old uncle Noah must have been rich or something.' the study door was open and the light was on. Laura had a look around. She noticed dad's diary was on the desk and decided to read it, both out of curiosity and to see if there were answers as to why everyone was gone. The last entry was from 3 days ago and there was nothing more recent. Tommy and Laura's dad, George, was a bit of a 'hard-ass'. He was a man's man and was strict as hell, a reserved Christian, but he loved his family. Tommy and George clashed at times and they weren't close. Tommy was rebellious and free-spirited, but he was a good kid overall. The diary offered no real insights into what happened and so, Laura moved on - this time to the living room which was in the room opposite the study. Laura could see the TV was on and flashing.

This is a promising beginning!

I know that you are playing with your personal style, but be wary of selecting either black or white text. Black will not show up well if the reader has selected an overall dark forum style; white will not show up at all in a light one. Better, if you must change text colors, to change only the text you are coloring (in this case: dialogue) and leave the rest at default settings.

Better yet:

Don't change colors at all. There is really no need. You can easily identify journal entries (perhaps by italics), but the other changes are hurting more than helping.

[End of quote]

Thank you so much. I had no idea there even was a dark mode, I've just looked into my preferences and changed it to dark (which I prefer, most of my sites are in dark mode). Looking at it now in dark mode it looks absolutely horrendous with the black colours

Gonna make some edits and going forward will keep in mind what you said.

Thank you for the feedback though, I really appreciate it. And you're LEGEND for informing me there's a dark mode, my god it's so much nicer not having my retinas scorched

Content: Laura continued on into the living room, the light was on and the TV was flashing a warning about the heavy rain and a storm approaching. "I've come from beautiful sunsets and eating BBQ on the beach to this" Laura muttered, sighing heavily. The living room was a mess. There was pizza boxes, cups and mugs all over the coffee table. The rug was wonky. To the far side of the living room there was a pillow fort, of all things. 'What on earth? A pillow fort? Me and Tommy used to build these when we were little. Wonder who built this.... and why?', Laura was confused. It's unlikely any kids would have come round, yet there was a pillow fort.... complete with two plushie bears, a toy t-rex and even some lego bricks. Laura just brushed it off, maybe mom and dad were babysitting recently - as odd as she found this since they've never done it before, as far as she remembered.

The living room was pretty big, probably the biggest Laura had ever seen. There was a vintage bar in the corner, complete with liquor and shot glasses. 'Wow guys, talk about moving up in the world' Laura thought. There was what looked like an old local newspaper article on the bar. "Noah Jenson, the eccentric chemist who lived in the house on Pine Hill has passed away. The hermit pharmacist hadn't been seen outside of his house in nearly 20 years, authorities say his death is not being treated as suspicious. Locals and local shop owners are curious what will happen to his house and the pharmacy he owned in town, the latter of which hasn't been open for over two decades." Laura was shocked. "What the hell? Howcomes mom never told us about Noah? And he died? Here? In this house? Jeez. This day just keeps getting better" Laura poured herself a shot of bourbon and downed it, the burning feeling felt good and reminded her of the beach parties she attended whilst on vacation in Spain.

Next to the newspaper article was a note from mom, it was addressed to Tommy. "Tommy, dad and I won't be here when you get back from your last day of school. We're going to see the Briars on the other side of town and we're staying the night. There's some money on the coffee table to get pizza, we'll be back tomorrow evening. You're 18 now kiddo, time to start acting like it. I still want you to do your chores please. You can invite a friend over, why don't you call Sarah? She's wanted to see the new place ever since we moved in. She could stay the night, too. She has that game you were going on about, Street something 2? Anyway, hope you had a great last day of school honey. See you tomorrow. Love mom x" Laura smiled, 'wow, my little bro all grown finally. 18, huh. Where has the time gone. I hope he had a good last day of school' she thought to herself, reminded of her own last day of high school.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"When you live in one place your entire life, your next door neighbour is kind of your.... default friend, right? Sarah only got weirder over the years. Moving away has been a good excuse to, like, not see her anymore. Mom and dad have got it into their heads we'd somehow make a good couple. Do they even know me? Do they know ANYTHING about me? I can't even remember the last time I spoke to a girl that wasn't mom. Thing is, she did always have the good Nintendo games. Maybe I will call her. I need to start practicing my Street Fighter 2 SKILLZ"

Laura found nothing else of note in the living room area and moved on. The scale of this house was mind-blowing. The next room was a music room of all things, as if a living room wasn't enough. The room was fairly large, a massive vintage mahogany record player was the centrepiece and the walls were surrounded by shelves with books, records and other clutter. Laura was gobsmacked at just how over-the-top this place was. She noticed in the right corner there was a small table and chair arrangement, on the table was another note. "Hi Alex! Soo, if you still wanted to come over tonight that's cool. I don't drive yet and I know you don't, we could cycle tho? Write back and leave this in my locker, I'll meet you in the parking lot after 6th!" further down the note, written in different handwriting: "Yeah I'm totally in! See you there. And after that, I'm gonna kick your butt so I hope you've been practicing!" at the bottom of the note was a hand-drawn picture of two hands producing an energy blast and a crudely drawn head looking.... vaguely like Tommy? The word HADOUKEN! was written alongside it with an arrow pointing at Tommy's head. Laura smiled. 'Boys and their Nintendo. Wait, didn't mom's note mention Sarah having Street Fighter 2? Was Tommy practicing the game with Sarah to be able to beat this Alex guy? Things are starting to become a bit clearer now. Damn Tommy, I always knew I was right and you spent HOW LONG in-denial?!'

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"So, you know what they say about the best laid plans of Mice and Men? Yeah. Turns out it applies to Street Fighter 2. Hey, at least I worked up the courage to walk into the arcade in town and ask for a turn. All that practice with Sarah at home didn't exactly translate into the wild, unfortunately. Sooo after I was finished getting my butt kicked on Street Fighter 2, I followed the guys outside whilst some of them smoked. That's when HE asked me if I was 'that psycho house boy'. Then he laughed, not in a bullying kind-of-way, it was genuine and goofy, more of a giggle. He then said he's always wanted to see 'the famous lair of Noah Jenson! I couldn't stop staring at him. My stomach felt funny, kind of as if butterflies were fluttering about inside, you know? I smiled, or grinned. Maybe it was a grimace. He totally noticed. I blushed and I know he saw."

Laura moved on to the upstairs having explored the music room fully. The staircase was grand and wide, carpet meeting woodgrain. It was beautiful. The upper landing was dimly lit, just enough to see. The landing was quite long and Laura made her way down it, noticing the rooms even had metal plaques on the doors. 'This place is like a fancy hotel', on the far end of the landing was a door - the plaque read *Tommy's Room* and a pinned on note underneath said KEEP OUT! in big bold writing, hand-drawn. On the floor, just outside the door on the landing side was a cassette tape with a white sticker on it that read "FOR TOMMY <3"

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"Is it weird hanging out with other guys? Sarah was around ever since I was little, but boys? I dunno. Being around Alex though? It's, like, instantly just RIGHT. It feels so natural. I gave him the grand psycho house tour AND took my revenge on the Nintendo! It was like, I dunno.... I've finally found someone I feel normal around. We cycled to his place after and he gave me this tape. I haven't stopped listening to it since. On the way back to his place though, he fell off his bike. I was SO worried and I got off my bike and ran over to him, he'd cut all his arm up and had a nosebleed. Alex though was more worried about his joggers, they'd torn when he came off the bike and was dragged across the gravel road. It's like, he was trying to conceal something? I could barely make it out, I was trying NOT to stare but.... it looked like a.... diaper? I didn't say anything. I just smiled and carefully wiped away the blood.... and his tears, with my sleeve. I asked him why he was crying, is something broken? He just looked at me and then looked at his torn joggers, seeing that I'd noticed. I removed my hoodie and helped him up, wrapped it around his waist to cover up the hole in his joggers. And then I just hugged him and he fell into my arms, crying more. We stood there for what felt like a lifetime, under the starry sky warmly lit by the moon. It was.... magical."

Laura noticed that Tommy's room door was slightly open and so went inside, feeling wrong to snoop around her brothers stuff. It wasn't like she had a choice though, she was worried sick and still didn't know where anyone was. Tommy's room was a mess, a typical 18 year olds room. Clothes were everywhere BUT the wardrobe. There were magazines semi-hidden under the bed, PLAYBOY MEN. "Annnddd there it is. You're finally out the closet huh little bro?" Laura smiled, she always knew deep down Tommy was gay - no matter how much he denied it. Call it 'big sister intuition'. Laura continued searching Tommy's room and there was more toys and lego, just as was downstairs in the living room. Then she noticed, sticking out of the wardrobe which hadn't been closed properly, was what looked like a pack of.... diapers? These weren't normal diapers, they were larger, thicker, as if they'd fit an adult snuggly but they were 'babyish' with prints on them? "What in the world?" Laura said aloud, thinking this all very odd. Next to the packet of diapers, there was a baby bottle half-filled with milk and a baby's pacifier. Laura moved some coats and jeans out of the way, revealing a babyish footed-onesie? Laura was perplexed, this was all very strange - she continued searching, despite the strangeness.

In Tommy's room there was a big wooden desk with numerous clutter on, a desk lamp and papers. There was another note that read TOMMY READ ME <3 "Soo, what ya wanna do on our last day of school? Ya know, I never did do anything for my birthday really. You've just turned 18 too. Wanna go to that new soft-play place in town? I know it's for kids, we can sneak in though. I know a back door and the staff won't notice, trust me. It'll be SO fun" further down in Tommy's handwriting: "Hey you. :3 wellll let me think. HELL. YES. I wanna go to soft play! Is that even a question? You've got your bike, right? I'll meet you in the parking lot. Don't be late "
Laura was even more perplexed. "Soft play? At 18? Am I going crazy or something?" as strange as all this was, it still didn't explain where everyone was, why no one was home and Tommy's cryptic note on the front door. With that, Laura had one more scan around Tommy's room, a confused expression on her face, then slowly and gingerly closed the door. The room next to Tommy's was the bathroom, Laura needed a pee so figured now's a good as time as any.

Laura made her way into the bathroom and pulled her pants down, sitting on the toilet. The relief was amazing, she'd been holding that pee in since the airport. It wasn't until Laura pulled her pants back up and flushed she noticed the stains all over the bath. 'Whoa. What IS THAT' Laura thought, moving closer. She noticed the hair dye bottle on the floor by the bath, 'RAINBOW HAIR DYE by True Colour' it looked as if a unicorn had vomited in the bath. There were so many colours.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"Soo, Alex brought some hair dye over today. He said, hey I got us something. 'US?' I said, 'as in a present for the both of us?' He just stood there, smiling at me cutely. Mom and dad were at work and we had the whole place to ourselves. I was in the bathroom and Alex just SHOT in, no knocking or nothing. He held my hand and in the other placed the hair dye, he said 'we're gonna get matching colours!' Dyeing hair is weirdly intimate. I've never touched someone else's scalp before, you know? We looked into the mirror together afterwards and I expected him to say something about how bad a job I'd done, or a good job or it was crappy or whatever. That's when he just stared at me and said you're so beautiful. He was looking AT ME in the mirror. In that moment, neither of us could really stop ourselves. I rested my head on his shoulder as we stood there and he just stroked my cheek and.... we kissed. My first ever kiss. It felt so.... intense, so amazing. This is what love felt like and it was real. It was pure. That's when he pulled his joggers down, revealing his diaper. It was babyish and had printed dinosaurs on it. It was completely unexpected and happened so quickly, I didn't really know what to do. I just looked down at it, briefly looked and then looked into his eyes. We'd never talked about what happened on the bike that time, when he fell off. His eyes were teary and I thought he was going to cry his eyes out at any moment. 'Does.... does this put you off? That I wear diapers? There's so much I need to tell you, Tommy. I don't know where to start'. I instantly held his hand. I just said, 'I know. And I love you."

Laura finished up in the bathroom and continued to explore the upstairs. The next room door had the plaque *art room*. Laura still couldn't believe how big this place was.

Content: Laura swung open the door to the art room on the upper level, having explored Tommy's bedroom and the bathroom and feeling as confused as ever. 'I feel as if I've entered a twilight zone. Just what, on earth, is going on around here?' Laura thought to herself, now inside the art room. The art room was pretty sparse, there wasn't much in there. Laura did notice more boxes labled 'LAURA'S ROOM' written in black marker though, and was now under the impression she didn't actually have a room with any stuff in. In the window space there was an easel with a beautiful painting on it. "Wow mom, you've really improved on your painting. This is amazing." Laura said aloud, admiring her mother's creative ability. The painting was of the woodlands surrounding the county, beautifully lit by moonlight and stars in thy sky. Next to the easel on a small nightstand was a note: "Laura, if you're reading this - mom and dad were gonna get the guest bedroom ready for when you came home. I think you've given them too late notice though! You can have my room if you want, I won't be needing it anymore - Tommy" Laura placed the note down and she gulped, 'Just where the hell have you gone, Tommy. What's happened?'

Laura quickly looked around the art room once more and found nothing else. She quickly exited the room, now picking up her pace slightly as clearly something had happened. These cryptic notes she was finding, the stuff she's already found that made no sense, the house being empty. It was all so strange. Continuing on, Laura went down the upper corridor some more and in the middle, looking up, she noticed an attic door. It was sealed and possibly locked for some reason, she noticed a small slot where a key would insert. Laura also noticed another note pinned to wooden attic door that simply read 'LAURA - DON'T GO IN THE ATTIC' Laura felt a lump forming in her throat, her stomach knotting. Whatever was in the attic was going to have to wait, Laura couldn't get in without a key.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"Sometimes you just have to lie to mom and dad. Like, when Alex asked me to go see a show with him and then stay at his place after. That's a lie to mom and dad situation. It was SO worth it. The show was electric, it was amazing. The people moved together, in motion. Earlier that day, Alex told me everything. He was an 'ABDL'. I'd never heard the term. It stands for adult baby and diaper lover. I wasn't shocked or confused, I was just happy that he was being open with me. He struggled initially, sure, who the hell wouldn't? That's a hell of a statement to tell a guy you've just started seeing. Still, I accepted it. I MORE than accepted it. He told me that he wanted to eventually become a 'care-giver', to love someone unconditionally. I.... think, I KNOW, he means me. And.... he could tell. The more I think about it, the more I want it. Is that crazy? Am I crazy? Has the psycho house finally gotten to me? Kidding. This is real. And I love it."

Laura continued down the upper corridor and eventually found mom and dad's room. Next to it was what she assumed was her room since it had no plaque up yet. Laura decided to have a snoop in mom and dad's room, even though it felt wrong to do so. She needed to continue her exploration. The room was immaculate, it didn't even appear 'lived-in'. The bed was made perfectly, as if no one had slept in it for days. Laying on the perfectly ironed bedding was another note: "Laura, READ ME. Sooo, this house is kind of weird. You've probably noticed that already though, right? It's super old. Noah, our dad's uncle, was kind of a crazy eccentric old man. He died in this house and he never came outside for 20 years! Can you imagine that? Anyway, me and Alex were convinced the place is haunted. You won't believe what we've found! There's secret passages all over the house. Turn this paper over and I'll show you. It's exciting." Sure enough, there was a detailed map on the back of the note that listed the secret passages and where they were. Laura couldn't believe it. "This day just keeps getting weirder." she sighed. If there were secret passages, Laura knew she had to find them. Maybe there'd be clues as to where Tommy went? And this Alex guy? Still no indication as to where mom and dad were though.

Laura noticed mom's diary on the nightstand. As wrong as it was to snoop, she just had to - and at this point, she'd snooped so much what did it even matter anymore? The latest entry was yesterday. "Dear diary, things between me and George.... aren't great. We've been arguing for months now. We can barely stand to be in the same room as each other, let alone sleep in the same bed. Work has been my sanctuary, though. And John, the new managing director at work, he's been really great. He's so supportive and caring. I wish George was like that, like he used to be all those years ago when I married him. All-in-all, things have just been crap. Laura is due home any day now, we haven't even prepared her room or anything. And Tommy? That boy worries me so much. How have I failed so hard as a mother? A Bisexual son. And all this ridiculous discussion around wanting to 'regress' and have that Alex 'care' for him? What on God's green earth am I supposed to do with that? Is this a test? Is God testing us? That Alex has corrupted my boy. I'm not a vengeful woman, and I don't condone violence. George though? I'm worried what he will do when he inevitably finds out. His temper has gotten monstrous lately and I don't think even I can stop his fury - this will send him over the edge. God knows, it's sending me over the edge. Laura, I need you to come home. Why did I ever agree to let you go on a 2 year vacation? God preserve me."

Laura was shocked. Have things truly gotten this bad? 'This really doesn't bode well.' Laura thought. 'Dad's fury? I really hope he hasn't done something drastic.' Laura couldn't help to feel as if something awful had happened, right at the moment she saw Tommy's note in porch entrance something hasn't seemed right. Laura looked at the other note, the ones that Tommy had drawn with the secret passages on. According to the note, there was a secret passage in Laura's room next door to her parents, and so she made her way out. Laura entered 'her' room - it was empty, devoid and just sad. There was nothing in there, aside from some more of her boxes. It's almost like they forgot about her? Have things really changed so much? Maybe it was a huge mistake going away for so long. Laura couldn't afford to dwell, she started immediately looking for the hidden passageway allegedly in her room. The note mentioned the closet - maybe the back panel? Laura gave it a hard push and sure enough, it opened! The open panel revealed a dark passageway, the 'inner bowels' of the house. The walls were littered with newspaper articles, crosses and weird symbols. Did Noah do this? It was creepy.

Laura plucked up the courage to enter through the panel, it was pretty dark as there was no natural light. The cryptic creepy aesthetic wasn't helping matters. Further in the dark, dingy passageway Laura noticed that a note was pinned on the wall. "TOP SECRET - TOMMY AND ALEX. GHOST HUNTING TEAM. Secret passage way discovered. More intel required. Time to investigate further! No signs re; ghostly or paranormal activity as yet. Will continue search." Laura nervously laughed. "Well that's not adorably terrifying at all, right?" she whispered. This passageway wasn't particularly large and it only wound downstairs, to Laura's surprise. She pushed a wall panel and noticed she'd ended up in the downstairs music room again.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"So, I stayed over at Alex's after the show. His house is absolutely.... amazing. His parents both died when he was young and he was given the house when he turned 18, previously staying with his in-laws. He never talked about his parents before, I think he misses them both so much. It's hard for him. Anyway, it was late and I was super tired. Alex showed me his room and I was.... honestly blown away, Laura. Imagine being teleported back to when you were 5 or younger. It had dinosaur wallpaper, huge cushiony rugs, night lights, plushie teddy's EVERYWHERE. The bed was SO. CUTE. It had cartoons on the duvet cover and even more teddy's on it. There were shelves upon shelves on the walls, all containing adult sized diapers, sippy-cups, cartoony pyjamas and even more toys. It was awesome. The bed had protective railings on it, similar to what you'd get on a toddler bed. I just laid there, absolutely exhausted. I was so tired. Alex came and laid next to me and that's when he asked me.... would I want to wear a diaper? Did I want to regress and just.... let go, let go of any worry, stress or anxiety I had. And I said.... yes. I didn't even pause. I started removing my trainers and jumper and Alex helped me. Then he just said 'relax' and to lay down. It's a weird enough feeling, someone else removing your clothes. It's kind of.... freeing? An exchange of trust. An even weirder feeling is having a diaper put on you, after not wearing one for, like, years? It was the most magical feeling. I laid there, feeling somewhat exposed, not really knowing what to expect. Then he lifted my legs gently and slid the diaper under me, then used powder, then I could feel the diaper being carefully pulled through my legs and he taped it snuggly around my waist. He was an expert and did it so quickly. I pressed my legs together slightly and could feel the soft padding, it was.... so strange and yet unbelievably comforting. For the first time in my life, I felt safe. I felt loved. Alex asked if I wanted to wear some PJ's and I just nodded. I was nearly asleep by the time he finished putting them on, I was so at peace. Alex tucked me in and said goodnight and I was asleep within seconds. Warm, snuggling a teddy, and diapered. It was the best feeling ever. That night I slept for 12 hours straight and it was as if the world had stopped moving for a while.

Laura noticed that the only room she hadn't explored downstairs was the Kitchen, which lead into the conservatory and garage. And then there was the attic room and possibly more passages to explore. She picked up the pace even more now, knowing that if dad really had flipped and something had happened, she'd find out soon enough. She still had that feeling of dread looming over her, as if a shadow was following her around. She could feel that she was close to uncovering..... something, she just didn't know what.

TBC.
There's only gonna be one more part after this. I hope you're enjoying it.
The big ending is next! Will probably be a long post too!

Content: This is the final part. This has been a really interesting story for me to write! I really hope anyone who reads it has found it enjoyable, connected to it in some small way etc. I may do do some more in this style, depending on how this is received. It's unique in that I've included journal entries and it's almost a virtual experience, drawing on heavy inspiration on an illustration I resonate with (and love) so much (and video game, if you haven't noticed already, although with several major changes - incl the ABDL aspect!)

I've loved writing this and it's my first story that I've ever written in my life! Feedback is welcome, as always.

This is the longest (and final) part. Enjoy!

FINAL PART

Laura was now very concerned. It was clear something had happened, something likely awful. Tommy had made several startling revelations, mom and dad were at odds and the latest entry in mom's diary mentioned dad's fury. Laura picked up the pace and was more urgent in her exploration, she was committed to finding out what has happened. The Kitchen area was the only place downstairs Laura hadn't checked, and it looked as if the Kitchen went into a small conservatory and the garage. The hidden passageways were also an option, though Laura didn't want to waste time. And then there was the attic space....

Laura could see on the note Tommy had drawn for her that there were only two hidden passageway remaining, both on the ground level. It looked as though there was a fairly large labyrinth underneath the actual ground level, accessed through a hidden trapdoor. Laura couldn't believe this place, it was full of surprises. Laura gingerly pulled up the rug that concealed the hidden door and opened it, not knowing what to expect. There was a ladder that went down, around 7FT, more than enough for an averagely tall human to fully stand comfortably. It was like an old basement area, complete with lights and everything.

This was clearly where Alex and Tommy would come a lot, there were toys and stuff down here, blankets, comic books and even a projector. The walls were decorated with colourful and childish posters, there were even fairy lights dangling down. It was like a grotto. Laura couldn't help but to smile. This was so wholesome and just, honestly cool.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"Things are different now. Alex comes over whenever I've got the place to myself. Mom and dad would kill me, and probably Alex too, if they knew. The 'little' (excuse the pun) talk I dad with mom, about my regression and what I wanted, me and Alex and stuff.... it didn't go well. I don't rally know what I was expecting, just.... not this? Dad would be even worse. His temper and mood lately have been honestly frightening and I just stay well away from him, not that he seems to care. So it's different now. Alex still comes over and I still go to his, I just lie and say I'm staying somewhere else. This can't go on forever though and I know what. Mom and dad know that too, most likely. This house is big though, and mom and dad aren't always here. Me and Alex ring each other every night, that has to be enough. For now. All the secrecy though.... it's kind of exciting, you know?"

This little hideaway grotto was cute and warming. Laura continued on down the labyrinth tunnel and it spread out into an entire basement level. There was more boxes, really old and battered furniture, dust and cobwebs. There must have been another entrance, possibly in the garden, how else would someone get all this stuff down here? Laura noticed there was also a furnace down here and it was slowly burning away. "Explains why this place is so toasty" Laura said aloud, enjoying the comforting warmth. There was more evidence that Tommy and Alex had been down here, most likely on their ghost hunting escapades; various notes, drawings and even some flashlights and stuff. 'Wonder if the duo ever found anything? I sure hope not!' Laura shivered at the thought.

Laura continued onwards down the passageways. She came across what looked like old servant quarters? "Wow, this house really is showing its age! A servants room? Just how rich was old Noah Jenson?" Laura still couldn't believe this house, even after having explored so much. Laura came across a letter, screwed up on the floor. 'Dear Tommy, I'd like to congratulate you on being accepted into the Tacoma Creative Writing guild. Please see attached our joining details, an official welcome package will follow this letter. Once again, well done and I look forward to seeing you once you graduate college.' 'Huh, taking after your big sis? Creative writing eh? Well done little bro. TCWG is as prestigious as it gets in this state.' Laura thought with a proud smile.

Laura continued searching the servants quarters and found another note, this was another ghost hunting note with Tommy and Alex: "Soo, me and Alex have found some real creepy stuff down here. Noah Jenson really DID go insane, his old notes and journals confirmed it. He went mad and started lashing out at things that wern't there, losing his temper and hallucinating and stuff. Maybe this house really is cursed? I can't help but feel that dad has been acting differently lately, too. His mood is worse than ever and he has no patience for me or anyone else. Is the house getting to him?" 'Jeez, I really hope dad is ok?' Laura thought, her smile almost disappearing.'

Laura noticed that next to the note there was a key. 'This must be the attic key!' Laura thought, immediately picking it up. Her next destination was clear; to the attic! She made her way out of this weird basement area since there was nothing else of note and headed back upstairs. There it was - the attic. It loomed over her head, the large wooden door, as if a portal into the unknown. What was up there? Especially after the ominous note that told Laura to stay out, with some trembling anticipation Laura used the key and unlocked the door and it swung open, narrowly missing her head. The ladder automatically pulled down and so Laura began climbing.

The attic was dimly lit, though this time with red lights. It was scary. The attic wasn't very big, though in the middle was a crude table, made out of old boxes and a cloth. There were 2 old wooden and battered stools placed next to it. On the table, to Laura's surprise, was a Ouija board and a note; "ALEX AND TOMMY ghost hunting duo: we're going to try and contact Noah Jenson to find out what really happened in this house! We're both pretty scared, but we shall endure! When we're together, NOTHING can stop us! Here we go...." On the other side of the note was a transcript, as if a conversation between Alex and Tommy and some kind of entity:

Alex and Tommy: Are you Noah Jenson?

D: No

Alex and Tommy: Who are you? What are you?

D: I am not important. You are in danger

Alex and Tommy: What? What do you mean, danger? What happened to Noah?

D: George is pos- yo-u, father is goi- KILL, too late. Y-ou ?need t-o? lea-

The transcript ended. "Whoa, not cool guys. What the hell." Laura said, screwing the paper up and throwing it on the floor. As she did that, the lights flickered and blew, making her jump. The room got real cold. Laura immediately got the hell out of there and practically leaped down the ladder. That was a huge NOPE room. The only rooms in the house that remained unexplored were the Kitchen area and that entered into the conservatory and the garage area. Laura sighed and made her way downstairs, feeling shaky and cold. This was all becoming too much. 'The Kitchen had better have some answers' she thought, making her way down the old staircase.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"The sunset light in this house is the saddest thing I've ever seen. I just want to sleep. I slept alone, in my room, last night. I was wearing a diaper and my PJ's, I even had a paci in. It just didn't feel the same. It wasn't the same without Alex. Other nights and especially round his place, I'd fall asleep in his arms, at peace, feeling secure and so happy whilst in my 'little' headspace. I can't do this alone anymore. The other night, with Alex as we was trying to use the Ouija board, I hugged him and said I never want to be alone ever again. I started crying and he just held me and then he started crying too. Last night though, it was so lonely and cold. I just laid there, tears in my eyes, hoping.... wishing for Alex to come into my room and reassure me. But I knew he wasn't coming, I was alone in this big house, mom and dad barely talking to me. I can't do this anymore, Laura. I can't live like this."

Laura gingerly opened the door to the Kitchen area and was greeted by the dining room. There was still food on the table. Whatever had happened, there was a rush. Laura was shocked to find what looked like.... blood? On the floor, even on the wall. Something startled Laura as she got closer to the blood. It sounded as if someone was trying to.... speak? It was muffled though. Laura searched around for the source of this strange noise, it was in the Kitchen area.... nothing could have prepared Laura for what awaited her.

It was Laura's mom, tied up, hogtied and gagged, on the Kitchen floor. She was bleeding and in a bad way, she'd clearly been in and out of consciousness. There was a nasty cut to her head. Has she been trying to call out to Laura this entire time? Laura was horrified. Who could have done this?

"MOM, what the hell has happened!" Laura cried out, running over to her. Laura removed the gag and cut the ropes. Susan, Laura's mom, could barely speak, she was in a real bad way. "Laura.... you, you have to find Tommy. George, your dad, has gone crazy. He.... he, he..." Susan couldn't hold back the tears, she couldn't talk and was hyperventilating.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"Alex came over for dinner today and mom and dad were there. Dad sat as far away as he could, sitting there, glaring at me and Alex almost with malice in his eyes. He hated Alex, he always had done ever since I started hanging around with him. He hated me, too, I guess. Nothing could have prepared me for what happened that night, Laura. The tension in the room was unbearable and mom just sat there, silently. She didn't move or say anything. I was sat next to Alex.... he must have been feeling awful. Why did I think this was a good idea? Well, turns out, it wasn't. Mom just starting crying uncontrollably and then dad? Dad stood up and started shouting at us in a mad frenzy, as if he was possessed by the actual devil. He was furious. 'YOU!' he shouted, his attention focused sharply on Alex, pointing at him. 'You're a vile, disgusting cretin. You've corrupted MY SON. You're not right in the head. All this talk, this NONSENSE about regression? About acting LIKE A DAMN CHILD, you're mentally ill. You're a criminal. And BY HOLY GOD, I will not, I CANNOT, stand by and allow this disgusting act to continue. I should have done this the moment I saw you. No one is going to miss a deranged, vile creature such as you!' it all happened so quickly. Dad had a gun on him this entire time and we....I, never noticed. Not until it was too late. Dad pointed the gun at Alex and as he did, I too threw myself at Alex hugging my arms around him. I thought I was too late. The gun went off. It was deafening. Mom let out a scream that could shatter glass. It was as if it happened in slow motion, a thunderous and mighty force hitting my chest, a sensation I can't even describe. I looked down at my chest, the warm dripping sensation I could feel.... was blood. He didn't mean to shoot me, he was aiming at Alex. Dad was shaking, full of rage and despair. He shot me. He shot his own son. I fell into Alex's arms, my legs no longer holding me up. Mom charged at dad, throwing herself at him with all of her might and I saw him smack her over the head with his gun. 'ALEX! RUN, TAKE TOMMY AND RUN TAKE MY KEYS-' she cried out. I could barely keep my eyes open, the world went black."

"MOM, just breathe. I'll dial 911 and get an ambulance to you but you have to tell me, where did Alex live? Is that where he would have taken Tommy? Is that where dad followed them to? How long ago did dad leave?"

Laura was sweating and frantically trying to dial 911 on the home phone. She was in a severe panic, trying to breathe.

"Alex is on 3rd, two streets down. Arbor Hill. I think the door number was... 11. Door 11. You have to find them, Laura. Please. This happened... at dinner, earlier this evening. You have to-"

"Stay calm mom. I'm gonna get help." Laura wrapped a towel around her mom's head and poured her a glass of water.

"911, what's your emergency?"

"My name is Laura, I live at 160 Pine Hill, Tacoma. My dad has gone crazy and has a gun, he's shot my brother and is going after him and his friend, they've managed to run away I think, I don't know I'm heading there now - number 11, Arbor Hill! He's nearly killed my mom! Please you have to send us help! Ambulance, police ANYTHING. PLEASE."

Laura gave the phone to her mom and made a mad dash for the porch door, she ran to the street, the rain was hammering down. The thunder was fiercely drumming in the sky, the lightning illuminating the darkness of the night in hues of purple and blue. She ran and ran until her lungs burned, her legs were stiff and she could run no more. There it was, number 11, Arbor Hill. The house was in darkness, there were no lights on. The crackle of lightning occasionally illuminating the inside. The front door was wide open and Laura ran inside. "DAD! TOMMY, ALEX ANYONE!" there was no answer.

Laura ran around the house, frantically trying to find someone. Anyone. The door to Alex's bedroom was open and that's where she saw it.....

Her dad was laying on the floor in a pool of blood. The gunshot to his head indicated he'd shot himself with the same gun he was still tightly clutching, his knuckles still white from gripping it.

The world had stopped still for Laura. She looked around at her surroundings. She was in Alex's room. And suddenly all the notes and strange items she'd found at home had made sense, as if a moment of clarity would make any real difference now. Alex and Tommy were nowhere to be seen, Laura didn't even know if Tommy was alive. Her dad was dead, Laura just fell to her knees and silently sat there, the sound of distant police sirens piercing the silence, interrupted only by the clashing of thunder.

[Journal entry, Tommy]
"It's a strange feeling, being dead. It's like, I don't know? Peaceful. Your head is so clear. The light that you see? It's so nice and enthralling, luring you into it as if it's taking control of your body entirely. Violent flashes interrupted this heavenly sensation, I could feel and see my eyes opening as if in third person. I was watching myself. Alex was holding my hand as the paramedics rushed my broken body through the hospital corridor on a trolley, into the operating theatre. 'I love you Alex' was all I could barely say, as blood sputtered and poured out of my mouth. Alex screamed and cried as the surgeons held him back, allowing him no further into the emergency theatre room. The doors closed and Alex collapsed to the floor, covered in my blood, crying his eyes out. He was as broken as I was, perhaps not physically.... but mentally. All I could hear was 3, 2, 1 CLEAR and an intense energising pain, as if I was being hit with a sledgehammer, coursed through me. Flashes of white, light and dark. Awake and not. Then there was only darkness. It was so quiet. A void, empty and abyssal in nature. I wasn't afraid though. It was finally over."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 YEAR LATER, exactly one year on since the events of that night.

"Mom, you want pizza for dinner? Or I can order in Chinese?" Laura shouted upstairs. There was no answer.

Laura went upstairs and found her mom in Tommy's bedroom. She was laying on his bed.

"It's been a year, Laura. A year since we lost him. My sweet, beautiful boy." she could barely stop the tears. Her voice was pained and her expression mournful.

"Mom, I-" before Laura could reply, the home phone rang.

Laura sighed. "I'll get it. Stay here, I'll come back."

She rushed downstairs and answered the phone.

"Hey, Miller residence. Laura speaking. Hello? Anyone there?"

After a brief pause, a voice replied:
"Laura?"

Laura gasped and was overcome with a mixture of grief, anxiety and SHOCK.

"T.... To... Tommy? You're alive? Is that really you?"

"Laura, I.... I'm so sorry. I don't even know where to start. I'm ok, me and Alex are living in a new state. We're together and we're so happy, Laura. When dad.... he shot me, I... the surgeons did what they could but I'm reliant on care now. I need someone with me all the time. Alex is looking after me now and, the truth is.... I couldn't live without him. I wouldn't want to live without him. He's more than a carer, a boyfriend, whatever you want to call it. He's my soulmate. I've never been this happy, Laura. Not ever."

"Tommy, I don't understand we tried looking for your and Alex at the hospital? You weren't there? Dad is dead, did you know that? He shot himself. I know what he did to you and would have done to Alex, so much has changed. Just please-"

"Laura... stop. I'm never coming home. Alex took me to another hospital, if he didn't dad would have just come and tried to finish what he started. I nearly died, Laura, I DID die. Several times. The doctor said it was a miracle I ever pulled through. I'm an adult, Laura. I can make my own decisions. Mom and dad never respected that, even when I turned 18. Me and Alex are living happily on our own. I don't expect you to understand, just please don't... don't worry about me and don't judge me. This is my choice and I've wanted nothing else as much as I've wanted this. You can tell mom that I'm alive and living happily, or don't. That's up to you. When you left us Laura, when you left me, I was so alone and so afraid. I wanted to die. Alex saved me, in more ways than one. I've got to go... I love you Laura. Please know that. You're the only reason I rang. Goodbye, big sis. Stay true to yourself and look after mom, ok? I love you."

Before Laura could reply, the phone went silent. Susan was at the top of the stairs. "Who was it, Laura?"

After a long pause, Laura closed her eyes and replied; "No one, mom. A scammer calling about insurance." the tears in Laura's eyes betraying her words. She put the phone down and went upstairs to be with her mom.

Tommy and Alex were happily settled in California. Tommy was still recovering, having regular physio and mobility rehab and the prognosis was that he'd eventually be able to walk again. They were both so happy in their new place, the entire house was like a giant playroom. Bright and colourful, full of cartoon characters, toys, colouring books and was just awesome. A child's true dream. They had a dog, Bruno, a beautiful golden retriever. Even a play area in the large garden, a trampoline, swings and so much more.

Tommy's bedroom was Star Wars themed and was FULL of awesome toys, games and had the most amazing bed with Luke Skywalker duvet covers and pillows. There were shelves upon shelves, full of adult diapers with the most adorable prints on them, the wardrobe was full of onesies, pyjamas and other clothes.

Tommy and Alex were in their new living room and Tommy was laying down, resting his head on Alex's lap. He was diapered and wearing his brightest, most cartoony onesie. It was so warm and snuggly. Alex had his arm on Tommy's shoulders, as if protecting him from the cold, dark world outside.

Tommy had the biggest, most purest, innocent smile on his face. He'd finally made it. He was finally living his dream. He was finally HOME.

THE END

You did an excellent job of portraying that sort of existential dread, that's not easy to pull off. The panic of it, the pacing, the sheer intensity of each moment. Very well drafted!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.

It was more of an experimental format, I didn't know how well it'd be received since I get that it can be confusing/overloading the reader with different text colours and stuff.

Glad you enjoyed it tho!
